Last night our NN event ‘ Ramadan in our House’ took us on a whistle stop tour around the world.

Raisa, from the Seychelles showed us her children’s Ramadan ‘advent ‘ calendar and her children’s list of promises of what they wanted to achieve this year. She explained that her fasting days were shorter (but hotter) than us in the UK due to her being so close to the equator!

Shazia from Golders Green amazed us with stories of her childhood where each child would receive a complete set of new clothes including new underwear for Eid! Hajra from Bushey showed us pictures of how she used to decorate her home to help build up the Ramadan excitement for her son when he was small.

Liz demonstrated how to make Algerian Borek and Yasmin wowed us with her delicious looking fruit chaat and home made gulab jaman!

Saleha Islam gave us an amazing and detailed explanation of what Ramadan means to Muslims including the main wisdom that Muslims feed their soul and they try to connect with God which raises their Taqwa ( God consciousness).
