Anna, our Groups Liaison made a trip to Wessex on 19 September to meet with Nisa-Nashim and join in the marvellous activities taking place in that week.
Nisa-Nashim Wessex met for Open my Mosque starting with a coffee together and a tour around Bournemouth Mosque where Hafsa, our co chair is the mosque secretary. We saw the beautiful decorations and ample prayer space for women.
Lynda, the Jewish co chair , invited Anna to accompany her to a local primary school where she was giving an assembly on Rosh Hashana. The children listened intently as Lynda blew the shofar rather expertly and watched a video of a child singing the prayers.
Anna met Lynda and Hafsa for an Indian meal and Lynda generously hosted Anna overnight in her house.
An extra treat was lunch in a local Palestinian cafe where the owner recognised Lynda and greeted her with Shalom!
